Restaurant Week Comes to Dallas

Dallas Restaurant Week is one of our favorite times of the year.  During Restaurant Week, more than 100 restaurants will feature three-course prix fixe meals for $35, offering frugal diners a chance to indulge without going into debt.  And beyond hedonistic pleasures, the event serves a great cause, raising funds for the North Texas Food Bank and Lena Pope Home.

Show your smooth side: tequilla cocktails at home

We’ve talked tequila before, and you know we’re big fans. Thus, in the name of research, we attended a Tres Generaciones tequila tasting at Victor Tango’s on Henderson. Victor Tango’s is a great bar already – fresh ingredients, great food, a great vibe. (The only thing missing is a patio – hint, hint)

Vino 100: Good Wines at Great Prices

The concept driving Vino 100 wine bar in Uptown is something we fully endorse: wine can be unintimidating, inexpensive and fun.  Vino 100 offers 100 bottles of wine for $25 or less.  The relaxing atmosphere and helpful staff create a perfect opportunity for the novice wine drinker to sip and learn.  Vino 100 also offers several higher-end bottles for the more experienced or less financially-constrained set.

Happy Hour at Home: Fajitas and Margaritas

In this episode of Happy Hour at Home, Alyssa makes some quick-and-easy fajitas, thanks to Central Market's fantastic Foodie Freebie special. Check their website each week for great deals - the fajita deal included margarita mix, chips and salsa with the purchase of fajita meat. Not bad!

Casa Noble (Hangover Free) Tequila Tasting!

This evening, we were invited to be guests of Casa Noble Tequila at The Fish restaurant in Uptown. We were told it was going to be an event that paired this organic tequila with a variety of Asian foods. Somewhat perplexed, we knew it was an opportunity we couldn't miss.

On the House - Il Cane Rosso Pizza

On a recent evening, Five O'Clock Dallas caught up with the traveling pizza professionals of Il Cane Rosso. They make some of the best pizza in Dallas, and they have the accreditation to prove it. In the video, we talk ingredients, how to make the best pizza at home and, if you're not in the mood for cooking, where to find the Il Cane Rosso traveling clay oven.
