Casa Noble (Hangover Free) Tequila Tasting!
This evening, we were invited to be guests of Casa Noble Tequila at The Fish restaurant in Uptown. We were told it was going to be an event that paired this organic tequila with a variety of Asian foods. Somewhat perplexed, we knew it was an opportunity we couldn't miss.

When we arrived, we were introduced to Jose Hermosillo, the CEO of Casa Noble Tequila, a family company that's been making quality tequila since 1776. They've also recently been certified organic. Best of all, Jose guarantees that his tequila won't give you a hangover. How can you beat that? We started with our only mixed drink of the evening, a blend of silver tequila, lychee, mango and muddled strawberries. It was absolutely delicious - you could still taste the tequila, but it wasn't overwhelming. The juices were tasty, but not too fruity! Once we get the recipe, we'll be sure to post it!

We then moved into The Fish's private dining room (classy!). Our only complaint of the night had to be The Fish's taste in music. It just didn't strike us as the Top 20 station sort of place. But, amidst the Lady Gaga, Pink and Train, we tasted some amazing food paired with delicous (yes, delicious) tequila. We had 4 courses, each paired with one of Casa Noble's 3 tequilas: the Blanco, Repasado and Anejo. The courses featured snapper, scallops, arugula salad, duck (mmmm) and - a complete surprise - a flourless chocolate cake with green tea ice cream. The best pairing of the night, by far, was the sweet and rich Anejo tequila paired with the sumptuous chocolate cake. Sigh:

Granted, Casa Noble Tequila, at $40-$60 a bottle, is far out of most of our price ranges. But, for a date night or special occasion, you can't do much better. Think of how original you'll look when you serve up a chocolate cake with a sip or two of tequila!
Aside from the food and tequila, the best part of the night was talking to other journalists and food reviewers and comparing food and drink notes with Jose. That guy really knows his stuff, and he's one of the nicest guys we've met. Plus, he makes tequila, which already landed him as incredibly cool in our book.
