Bargain Beer for the Big Game

You want Widmer, your buddy wants Shiner. Your one friend won't drink anything but Miller Light (really?) and you've got a hipster coming over that only likes PBR. What's a Super Bowl party host to do?

Solution! Head to Central Market - they've got 20% off ALL BEER through 2/9/2010. All beer. Cans, bottles, big bottles, mini kegs. And if you've been to Central Market before for beer, you know they've got something for everybody.

Growlers: Beer and Take Out

There are many tools a beer lover must have. Glasses. Snacks. A Kegerator. Topping the list? Growlers. Beautiful, easy-to-carry glass jugs that store pints upon pints of hard-to-find, fresh-from-the keg beer. Hefeweizen, IPAs, Stouts, Ales, Lagers - you could probably even get one full of Bud Light (but why would you do such a thing?)

Unfortunately, growlers haven't caught on yet in Dallas. And we can't figure out why. Just look at it, in all of its beer transporting glory:

Slice Pizzeria

Slice Pizzeria Dallas, TX

Slice Pizzeria is a newly opened pizza joint on Lower Greenville Ave. Slice occupies the space formerly held by Zymology. Slice sells pizza by the slice, as well as other menu items like Caprese Sliders, Garlic Fries, Salads, and Calzones & Sandwiches. Slice also features a full bar, including a great tap selection (especially for a pizza place). The staff is friendly, and when you order pizza there, it's extra crispy and the ingredients are fresh. Slice will provide nearby Greenville Pizza Co. with some good competition.

Ships Lounge

Ships Lounge, Greenville Ave Dallas

Ships Lounge is a Dallas Dive Bar establishment. Part myth, part legend, Ships is a drinkers bar. Ships Lounges is not your typical Lowest Greenville bar. At Ships, not only can you bring your own bottle of liquor (they only server beer or boxed wine), but there's a strict no-swearing policy. Ships is known for it's rockin' juke box, and for the owner's penchant for buying rounds of drinks for bar patrons.

Ships Lounge has been open for almost 50 years, and the decor almost hasn't changed one bit in that time. Be sure to go to Ships with a few close friends, and not a large group.

Adventures in Beer: Bud Select 55 Calorie

A few months back, Bud announced that the'd be releasing a 55 calorie beer: Bud Select 55. In the name of research, we procrastinated and discussed how disgusting this beer would be. THEN, again, in the name of research, we gave it a shot. Check the video for awesome reactions. The highlights:
